Our Electrical Design Department has received many compliments for our designs of lighting, sound, and data/voice distribution systems.

Lighting Systems

From small residential lighting systems to 350-circuit theatrical dimming systems, KTA can provide the designs that you need. We have created direct/indirect lighting systems for libraries that have received praise from national library consultants and that have resulted in additional projects to re-light other existing libraries. We have designed the theatrical dimming systems for no fewer than nine 500+ seat theaters, including black box theaters and 350-circuit dimming systems.

All of our lighting designs utilize energy efficient light sources that are readily available in the location of the project. Attention is paid to light levels and glare control, as well as color rendering and color temperature properties. Our designs meet the requirements of the International Energy Conservation Code.

Power Distribution Systems

Whether it is a 120/240V/single-phase, 120/208V/three-phase, or 277/480V/three-phase system, KTA can design it for you. Voltages are selected first according to the Owner's needs and, second, by the requirements of the project. We will specify dry-type transformer, isolation transformers, and K-rated transformers, as required. 

KTA also has experience with high voltage distribution projects up to 15kV. The projects range from additions to primary metered systems to changing a college campus' distribution system from 4160V to 15kV.

Emergency power systems KTA has designed include generator, inverter, uninterruptible power systems (UPS), and battery pack systems.

Communications Systems

KTA has also received much praise for data and voice distribution system designs. KTA designed the first school reviewed under the Department of Education's current Kentucky Educational Technology Systems (KETS) requirements. Since that review, our specifications were upheld to other engineers as model specifications for KETS systems. More recently, KTA was asked to design and oversee the installation of data/voice distribution systems for 31 schools in one school system. We were able to complete this complicated, multiple contractor, multiple site, multiple contract project within the budget and with minimal change orders.

KTA also has expertise with state-of-the-art fire alarm systems, intercom systems, telephone systems, security systems, nurse's call systems, door access systems, and sound amplification systems. We have designed computer controlled, theatrical sound systems used by Grammy Award winning artists.
